Although Marine Business had achieved great success in physical sales, they realized that it was not enough. They faced strong competition in this space, especially from their own distributors, who were already modernizing and reaching customers through digital channels.
The pandemic was undoubtedly a turning point for the brand. The global health crisis accelerated the growth of digital sales, as mobility restrictions made online selling essential for survival. After analyzing their situation and hearing about their needs, we at Pukkas outlined three key actions aimed at creating a strong digital presence so that Marine Business could become a successful e-commerce. In short, we wanted to replicate the success they had in the physical world in the digital space.
1st. Technological Actions
The first and most important step was to build an eCommerce platform from scratch on their existing website. To achieve this, we used WooCommerce, an open-source e-commerce plugin designed to integrate with WordPress, which was the CMS they were using. During the creation of the e-commerce site, we also installed other plugins and adapted the design to match the brand’s identity, ensuring it respected the style that had been cultivated over time. This way, anyone familiar with the brand from its physical stores could instantly recognize it on their online store.
We also implemented technical improvements in WPO (WordPress Optimization) to ensure the site’s performance was optimal. This not only ensured that search engines indexed the site properly but also guaranteed a smooth customer experience in the Marine Business environment.
Lastly, as part of the technological actions, we adapted the website to different markets to globalize the e-commerce. Now, the brand has its site available in Spanish, French, English, and Italian.
2nd. Digital Marketing Actions
Once the website was ready, we moved on to phase two, which involved launching the company’s digital marketing strategy. Our primary approach was to focus on On-page SEO positioning through the creation of organic content. We achieved this by publishing articles for their blog section and optimizing their product pages. In fact, to this day, the majority of their online sales come from organic content, allowing us to generate consistent sales without solely relying on investment in Ads.
However, at Pukkas, we designed a comprehensive 360º strategic plan for them, implementing all types of marketing actions. In addition to SEO and ads, we also worked on their profile in Google Merchant Center, their presence on social media, email marketing campaigns, and programmatic advertising.
3rd. Branding Actions
In addition to creating the entire design for their website while maintaining their brand style and ensuring usability and navigation, our creative team also handled the design of newsletters for the email marketing strategy, as well as banners and pop-ups for both the website and programmatic advertising. We even designed their physical catalogs, which were intended for both third-party stores and distributors, as well as the end customer.
